Pod hotels vary in size, from 50 or so pod to 700 . Some pod hotels offer separate sections for male and female guests, or even separate floors and elevators. Clothes and shoes are exchanged for sleep clothes and slippers on entry, and a towel and bathrobe may also be provided. Luggage and valuables are usually stored in lockers or—if available—in-room safes.[Guests are asked not to smoke or eat in the pod].

Conventional hotel/motel rooms consist of any form of temporary accommodation unit consisting of three major parts viz. sleeping area, W.C. and bath & storage and remaining open space for circulation. Capsule hotels have all pods together, shared W.C. and baths, locker rooms for storing personal belongings and the combined circulation spaces shared by a few pods.

Variations in pods /Sleeping cabin

Just like there are types of hotel rooms (Regular, deluxe, suite, etc.) the pods are also classified as exclusive ladies pod, classic pod, private pod and a suite pod (accommodates a double bed). These pods are also modified to accommodate two persons in a double or couples pod (like room). This creates a choice for users.

Amenities and multipurpose spaces

Based on the user group various amenities and facilities should be provided. The additional spaces within the structure would constitute a canteen, library, study, entertainment room, game room, etc.

Often luxury is equated with spaciousness when considering accommodation. But in this day and age of overpopulation and space shortage, pod accommodation proves to be an upcoming solution as it would only be experienced inside the sleeping pods. The luxury in this high tech facility should offset it such as Jacuzzi, Gym, Restaurant, etc.

Pod hotels are currently a huge business opportunity

Compared to traditional hotels, pod hotels have a much larger capacity, creating the opportunity for a much higher profit. More and more companies are using their office buildings to start pod hotels. Some existing hotels are even renovating some of their floors to allow them to enter the pod hotel business
